What this site collects

Two measurement tools run on these pages, and both report to us in aggregate. Neither one learns your name, because the site never asks for it.

Google Analytics tells us which pages people read and how they found us. It records the pages you visit, roughly where you are in the world, your browser and device type, the site or search that sent you, and clicks on links that lead away from here—usually to our Meetup page. The approximate location comes from your IP address, which Google uses to work out a city and then discards rather than storing alongside the rest.

It also records how far down a page you scroll and which buttons you press, so we can tell which parts of the site people actually use. None of that is tied to a name, because we never ask for one.

Vercel Analytics counts page views. It sets no cookie and keeps no identifier that survives between visits, which is why it does not appear in the cookie list below.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets two cookies. Both last two years unless you clear them sooner.

• _ga — distinguishes a returning visit from a new one.
• _ga_RXE40QLVF6 — holds session state for this site specifically.

Nothing else on the site sets a cookie.

What this site does not do

• There is no sign-in, so there are no passwords and no profiles.
• No forms are collected here. RSVPs happen on Meetup, under Meetup’s own policy.
• We run no advertising, set no advertising cookies, and sell no data to anyone.
• There is no mailing list to join.

Who else touches the data

Google and Vercel process this information on our behalf, which means it is handled on their infrastructure and may be stored outside the United States. Vercel also hosts the site, so it handles the ordinary request records any web host needs to serve pages and keep them online.

Links that leave the site

Our Meetup group and our X account live on other companies’ platforms. Once you follow a link to Meetup or anywhere else, that company’s privacy policy governs what happens next, and we have no visibility into it.

Your choices

Every browser can block or clear cookies, and this site works exactly the same without them. If you would rather Google Analytics never ran for you on any site, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on that switches it off everywhere at once.

Changes to this page

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves. We do not keep an archive of earlier versions.
